You can export your Citation datafiles in a number of different formats.
Endnote Refer
ProCite
RIS (Reference Manager)
To export a Citation datafile to Endnote
- Open your Citation datafile, and choose Generate, Bibliography.
- Change the publishing style radio button to Custom, and enter the name of the custom format file to use as ENDNOTE.CF.
- Change the Write Bibliography to setting to File, and enter a name for the text file to store your Citation records.
- Open Endnote and create a new database. Then choose File, Import, Refer-Bibex option to import the records from the text file.
Your Citation records will now be available in EndNote.
To export to ProCite:
- Open your Citation datafile, and choose Generate, Bibliography.
- Change the publishing style radio button to Custom, and enter the name of the custom format file to use as PROCITE.CF.
- Change the Write Bibliography to setting to File, and enter a name for the text file to store your Citation records.
- Open ProCite and create a new database. Then choose Import, Comma delimited, and set the options as follows:

Click OK, and then import the text file containing your Citation records.
Your Citation datafile will now be available in ProCite.
To export to RIS format
- Open your Citation datafile, and choose Generate, Bibliography.
- Change the publishing style radio button to Custom, and enter the name of the custom format file to use as RIS.CF.
- Change the Write Bibliography to setting to File, and enter a name for the text file to store your Citation records.
- Open Reference Manager (or other program that imports records in RIS format) and create a new database.
Then choose Capture, and import the records in your text file, with the database service set as RIS format.
Your Citation datafile will now be available in Reference Manager.
Note: You can fine tune ENDNOTE.CF, PROCITE.CF, and RIS.CF with Citation's custom format editor.
